Membership in the Bedford Garden Club

Expectations of Membership –

• ​The success of our club depends upon the active participation of its membership. BGC Members are expected to attend monthly meetings and to be active in at least one Standing Committee - Conservation, Floral Design, Garden History & Design, Horticulture and/or Photography - and to participate in the Civic Improvement summer gardening program.    
• Admission to membership in the Club shall be limited to those owning property and residing in Northern Westchester County, or to those who have rented property in this area for a minimum of two years.
• Should the member be unable to fulfill active membership expectations for multiple years – they will be asked to put in writing the reasons.  

Expectations of Proposer – 

• As the proposer, we ask you to explain the expectations of membership in the Bedford Garden Club to the candidate, and, if the candidate is admitted to the club, agree to undertake to ensure that the candidate fulfills the obligations of membership - i.e., regular attendance at lectures, workshops, and public gardening mornings.
• We expect a that a proposer will be actively engaged in Club activities. 

Step by Step -

• Contact Cynthia Mas with candidate’s name 
• Invite Candidate to several membership meetings. Introduce Candidate to BGC members.
• Communicate Active Membership responsibilities to candidate.
• Provide Letters of Recommendation: one from the proposer, seconder and two letters of support from Active Bedford Garden Club members.
